2015 Teen & Adult Summer Reading Program

May 30 - August 1, 2015

Registration opens Saturday, May 30, 2015 and continues through the end of the program on Saturday, August 1, 2015.

This year there will be two parts to the program.

  1. Customize your own superhero by reading and logging books read from May 30 – August 1, 2015. Books logged unlock cool new superhero suits for your online avatar.
    1. Books must be at least 100 pages long. See Official Participation Rules.
  2. To earn small prizes and treats (while supplies last), complete superhero challenges. Each challenge completed also gives you a better chance to earn super prizes at the end of the program. See Challenges below for more information.
    1. A list of challenges and their descriptions can be found on the “Challenges” tab after signing in to your online Summer Reading account.
    2. More challenges will appear each week.

Earning Prizes

Ultimate prize = iPad Air 2
Super prizes = Approximately 20 big prizes such as a $150 Amazon gift card or Fitbit.
Challenge prizes = Treats and small prizes such as LED flashlights and chocolate truffles.
Completion prize = Rita's Italian Ice gift card

  • After reading and logging 3 books, participants will automatically be entered into the Ultimate Prize Drawing for an iPad Air 2. Logging 3 books also gives each participant and their immediate family admission to the End of Summer Reading Party.
    • Participants who read and log and minimum of 3 books also earn a small completion prize (500 available).
    • The winner of the Ultimate Prize drawing will be notified the week of August 3-8, 2015.
  • In addition to earning an extra entry ticket for the Super Prizes, some completed Superhero Challenges earn participants a small prize or treat. The award will be stated once each challenge is completed.
  • All prizes can be claimed at the 1st Floor Reference Desk.
  • All prizes are limited and only available while supplies last.

For more information, see the Official Participation Rules.

  • New this year are the Summer Reading Superhero Challenges. These are fun activities or reading challenges designed for exploring new books and topics, highlighting library resources or just to have fun.
  • Completing a challenge usually earns you a small prize or treat. Challenges completed will also give you an extra entry ticket to be used for prizes at the End of Summer Reading Party. The more challenges completed, the more ticket entries earned for the super prizes.
  • Entry tickets will be given out upon arrival at the End of Summer Reading Party.
  • At the End of Summer Reading Party, each super prize item will have its own ticket entry box. Each entry ticket earned, either by completing challenges or winning games at the party, can be used as one entry for any super prize. Participants can choose where to place their ticket entries.
